We Steal Mobile Phone & Transfer Victim’s Money to Other Accounts’ Arrested Suspects Tell RRS

 

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos state police commad have arrested six people who specialized in robbing victims of their phones and using their sims to empty their bank accounts.

The six suspects are, Muritala mustapha aka swallow, age 25, Ifeanyi Nwanzi 27, Uche Martins 27, Solomon Dike 31, Samson Mohammed , Ali Hassan 27.

Parading the suspects, the commissioner of  police, Cp Edgal Imohimi said the suspects will be charged to court at the end of the investigation.

In his confession, the leader of the gang said they were arrested by the operatives of RRS for using victims sim cards to withdraw money from banks. He said he is the leader of the gang but they work as a team.

The role of the first group is to rob victims of their phoned and collect their sim cards. They also steal simcards from unsuspecting victims,hand over to the second group whose role is to collect all the sim cards and with which they will work on the accounts of victims.

The third group provide the back account number to which they will transfer the victim’s money.
He said he uses USSD code to buy cards and transfer victim’s money to another account belonging to one of their gang members.

I am.into yahoo but since eight months now i devert new strategy of using simcards to  rob victims and I have made over N300,000.

” I did not go to higher institution but stopped at secondary school level but learnt the criminal act through google”.

Uche said his role was to collect phones and hand over the sim to them. He said they used to tell victims that they are bad boys in the area and warned them to keep the police away from their work.

Ifeanyi said he plays the same role as Uche. He said they sell each phone for N33,000 and give out the phones to friends sometime.  One of the friends is Samson in Ghana another friend Kasuwa David in Alaba international market is a buyer .

Suspect Dike said he is a bike rider, he denied been a member but lured by the huge money they paid him each time he followed them.

He said they pay him N5,000 each time he carries them for any operation. He said he needed money to buy car to do taxi work. Ali hassan said he is a 300 level student of Sociology in North American University in Benin Republic.

He said he joined them due to to lack of finds to further his education.

Samson Mohammed said he used to give swallow his own bank accounts to transfer monies. Unfortunately he had not made enough money before he was arrested.
